About Hanke

Hanke Korpershoek (1982) currently works as an assistant professor at the GION Education/Research institute of the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. In 2002, she finished the Teacher Training Program for Primary Education, after which she studied Educational Sciences from 2002 to 2005. Following her work as a junior researcher at GION in 2005, she began her PhD-trajectory in 2006. She defended her thesis “Search for Science Talent in the Netherlands” in 2011. Her research interests include: determinants of student functioning in school (e.g. motivation, commitment, sense of school belonging, engagement, well-being), differential effects (e.g. gender differences, cross-cultural differences), choice behaviour of students (e.g. regarding STEM careers), and classroom management. Her most recent project focuses on the cognitive and non-cognitive development of students transitioning from primary to secondary education. (email: h.korpershoek@rug.nl)
